MFB is right. At this point, there's no reason to justify making products that have limited demand. While we as enthusiasts like to bitch about this fact, we have to accept the truth of the matter. However thats not to say there's no room in the market for sporty or enthusiast oriented cars.

Toyota has this habit of making cars that people want and then restricting production, a la Prius. But if dealers cannot get enough Scion tC on the lot, they'll try to drive the price up and that will kill off that whole thing. The car makes sense AT sticker price, but not anywhere near above or with Toyota's stupid overpriced TuRD options.
... and the tC shouldn't be the sole model "making sense" in the market segment for long. Honda and Nissan really need to do something about Toyota's uppityness soon!

Anyway, to clarify, both cars will be built through the 2005 model year and then discontinued.
Celica production will cease at the end of July 2005. Production of the Celica will be about 500 units a month through this December, then about 250 through July 2005.
Approximately 200 MR2s will be produced monthly for the United States until January. Both nameplates are built in Japan.

But as you can see, Mike, '250' units per month from January to July 2005 is a figure which is best described as a 'rounding error' in the greater scheme of things. We're talking about less than 6500 Celicas for the 2005 model year if Toyota has started making 2005 Celicas right about now. 6500? Even that high figure ... I'd call that 'diddlysquat.'
