I personally would be more likely to cross-shop the 350Z, RX-8 and maybe S2000 without giving the GTO or Mustang Cobra a second glance.

Pontiac wants the GTO to be a "conquest" vehicle which pulls sales away from other brands' intenders, but really they should have tried to make it a heritage vehicle which gets the American car fans out to the dealerships.

I actually like the looks but it's nothing extreme.

I've only seen one black GTO on the road since they came out.

Or they should have added a moonroof to it. I'd really want one if it came fully equipped.

GM never expexted all conquering sales. The current GTO is just a stop gap until the 06 or 07 model year when plans are to build the GTO on US soil.

GM used to hit home runs all the time, in the 60's. Then emissions regs came out.

thats GM for you. underachievers. they rather spend more time at a press room conference talking about cars that come out 5 years from now than actually workin on them.

They are working on it. The current GTO is just an image booster. One of the largest complaints from the generals faithful is that it isn't built on american soil. The new one is also to be built on a newer, better f/r platform.

well good for them. However, I was referring to their recent (last couple of years) offerings.
