I guess the train of thought I was going for was that since a Civic is percieved as Honda's entery level car, some may say it shouldn't cost 20k. But I could be wrong. :chuckles:

Maybe the Civic Hybrid "feels" better in terms of build and solidness is because it's made in Japan...Practically hand-assembled, I read...That was a number of months ago, though, so the current demand due to high prices may step up production.

Yeah but "all those options" include xenon headlights, digital tire pressure monitoring, 6-disc in dash changer, sunroof, leather seats, ABS, a bunch of airbags, and navigation, among other things. That's a lot of goodies for $23k.

That doesn't mean anything. He was arguing about the statement against entry level cars and $20k+ pricetag.

I don't think you have to necessarily equate entry level with cheap all the time. Looking at VW, its entry level vehicles the Golf and Jetta have gone from commuter cars to $32k semi-luxo performance machines (say the R32 or the GLXV6). It just depends on the brand and where it wants to position itself. For Honda, I think that their roots in fuel efficient and fun to drive cars certainly warrants its entry level being priced lower than say VW who wants to position itself more upmarket.
