I think Honda could find much success in releasing an inexpensive, sporty, fun, 2 seater hatch with plenty of utility...as long as they don't mess it up.
[edit]Knowing Honda as of late, it'll probably come out as a $19k car that weighs 2800lbs.

But if they get it right, just imagine... People have been lamenting the loss of the CRX (in "hatch" form) ever since the Del Sol came out.

that price for si is only in CA. outside of CA you can get it for 1/2 that or less.

Personally I don't think there is a big market for a 2 seater car in the sporty car or even econo car category.

how many 2 seater cars are even sold in the US? mr2, slk, miata, Z4, and the new Lotus Elise. Why they are all convertibles!

Also I'm with Alvin, if they do make one it will be overweight and the price too high. Out of the 5 cars I listed above only the Elise is below 2000lbs with 190hp.

As much as I like the CRX (2nd gen), I'd rather see a CTR in the US.

Good point about the prices in CA. For some reason that totally slipped my mind.

If Honda were able to even make a sporty feeling 117/127hp D17 powered, sub 2200lb 2 seater car that could still hold 4 extra wheels and a bag of chips for less than $11,000, I'd probably buy one. But that'll never happen so I agree, I'd rather see the CTR come here (though that's also highly unlikely...)

There's been rumors about the CRX's return for YEARS, so I hold this one with the same grain of salt.

The Nissan guys on Freshalloy think all the CRX talk is hilarious.
Of course the talk over on FA is about a pending new Silvia and so on.
And you know the Supra faithful everywhere ....

Within reasonable levels of affordability there are also the 350Z, S2000, TT Roadster, Boxster and Corvette.

So is everything you mentioned save for the MR2 and Miata.

In response I pose this question: when has there ever been a large amount of 2-seater cars on the market here? It's not like this is a once-flourising segment that's in a slump.

that is my point as well. the only type of 2 seaters that "flourished" was 2 seater convertibles.
