Default Scion TC pricing announced!

I don't know how Toyota is doing this, but the Scion Tc's base price of $16,465 (including delivery) for the manual and $17,265 for the auto is amazing. The features including the 2.4L engine, power everything, CD, air, 17" wheels, and the panoramic sunroof is amazing for a car at this price.

I hope this helps Honda wake up with the next Civic Si and RSX models. I guarantee that Si and base-RSX sales are going to nosedive with this one. And I imagine that the option supercharger, since its going to be more of a volume unit that previous TRD accessories, shouldn't add more than $3k to the price.

This is very well priced car for the amount of options. 200HP and about 200 ft-lb of tq for ~$20k is very competitive. I wonder where the Celica will fit in now? Also, the RSX-s would have to increase the HP some more if they want to charge ~$23k.

Celica is to... DISAPPEAR! Toyota so understands the heritage of its "Japanese Mustang" nameplate that it's simply gonna retire it.

tC is basically in-between the market positioning of the Civic EX and the base RSX... base RSX features for a Civic EX price point. It says
HI HONDA! I'M TOYOTA. HERE IS THE SMACKDOWN.
*SMACK* WHATCHOOOOO GONNA DO 'BOUT IT! :gloats:

What a porker! Take out the engine and steering wheel and make 'em options. Just charge for the empty sheel with the ... take off the Scion badges and put on TOYOTA badges so people will pay $10K just for the empty shell by itself. TOYOTA ... world's most dependable paperweight. And what's better, because it has no engine, you don't ever have to change the oil...... so instead of beating it on the roads for 20 years and then it breaks down and you biotch to the world about "oh no how undependable my Toyota is, Toyota hath betrayed me" ... you stay off the road altogether! (and don't have to worry about "random engine failures" caused by lack of oil changes, i.e. OWNER BRAIN FAILURE!)

Once Toyota starts doing this, hopefully the practice will spread to Benz, Saturn, and Volvo!

I'm not sure where that rant come from. Toyota hasn't paid me off this week.

:ugh: tha hell?

Anyways, 2900 lbs doesn't sound too bad considering it'll have the torque of a 2.4 liter engine. Then add the supercharger and you're golden.

The Civic Si and RSX both weigh in around ~2800-2900 lbs. and have significantly smaller engines with less torque, so you can't rant about the tC's weight too much. Add in the optional supercharger and you've got a car that will take the RSX to school.

And speaking of the Celica, Road & Track's new SPEED magazine thinks rumours of the Celica's death are exaggerated. They say that a new Celica with a 230hp engine is on its way as Toyota will move the Celica towards more performance and leave the tC as the mid-range coupe.
