Nah, GS300 is a sportier model, it competes with the TL. The RL is a luxoboat that is targeted at LS430, and Q45, and at 50,000 it just falls short. All it needs is 2 more cylinders and .5L of displacement and I would give it all the props in the world, but it doesn't...

I'm not just blindly assuming, I'm basing my assumptions on the experience I had with the current "untuned" version of the 3.5 V6 in the MDX. And it's Acura that's playing catch-up, so in order to succed, it must offer more than their competitions at lower price, but it offers less. The current RL was a failure, and it looks like the new one is heading the same way.

When did a luxoboat have the potential to beat the Skyline GT-R at the tracks? http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=230131

Right....so you got a chance to test drive the prototype RL with the "tuned" version of the V6 right? If not, then you are making blind assumptions. :joshers:

Oh by the way, funny thing that you mention about the Q45. That's the definition of a failure...and it even had a V8! :lmfao:

Point is this....people who buy these class cars don't put it in their top priority that X car has a V8 while the other car has the similar hp but a V6.

I got no problem with the Q45. Just people automatically jumping to conclusion that without a V8 the RL will not be successful when the 8 year old current RL outsold the Infiniti V8 sedan(s) for a a few years now and still does.

so because its less of a failure, that's okay? Its still a failure..and the reason the q failed is because infiniti did it ass backwards...they should've started with the G35 then a year or so later the m35/45 (the current one should never have been released, they shoulda not brought it out until the new one came out), then another year later they should've brought out the Q45...build the brand equity before u try and sell a 50-60k car.

no the rl competes with the m35/45, the gs330/430, the 5 series and the E-Class...no body will ever cross shop it with an ls430. and the gs430 is not just a sporty version of the ls430...its a smaller car. its mid luxury just like the rl. the TL competes with the g35, IS300/ES300, 3 series, c class. anyone that thinks that the TL competes with the gs330 just doesnt know much about cars.

I never said the current RL wasn't a 'failure'. :dunno:

But we can't presume the new RL is a success or failure yet without it being out on the market.

It's amazingly :ghey: how some people are convinced that they know everything from the handling, the powerband and the marketing and selling of an unborn automobile and yet seem to have free time to hang out in HAN and tell us their godly prophecies and how they will come true, because there is no way it could happen otherwise in the near future.

Amazing. :jawdrop:

You know, I just don't see how this will compete with the 612 Scaglietti without more horsepower.

Get it right man, you're supposed to compare the RL to the Maserati Quattroporte!
