Default Modding possibilities for the DOHC 2.4

I know everybody is all excited about the 240hp V6, but I think the new I4 is going to be great for modding. The venerable H22 was a great engine, but imagine what you can do with this little K24. It's a known fact that Honda's engines are corked up from the factory and what can y'all speculate you can get from this new engine. I know we won't know for sure until we get one on the dyno and run it, but I would say the new I4 is gonna be big.

I'd be interested to see a RSX Type S head on a K24, is that possible? As far as tuning otherwise, I think it was made to be a reliable and torquey engine, not the new H22.

Yeah but yianni it's already got so much torque now, imagine what modding can do. I imagine changes in the i-VTEC system can produce major horsepower.

What I am trying to say is that this K24 isnt meant to be a high power engine, but a smooth torquey one instead.
Remeber about the 2.4L that supposed to go in the Euro Accord thats 250hp? Yeah, thats the cool version.

I think the only reason why Honda stuck with the 160hp is because it's just cheaper to make one engine for both the CRV and Accord instead of modifying it and making it more powerful just for the Accord. I mean you can squeeze another 10hp just with ECU tweaks. I bet with a full I/H/E setup and some software tweaks you can easily reach 200hp, I mean hell if they can pump 240hp out of the F20, someone's gotta have the brains to squeeze some more out of this engine. It may not be the new H22, but maybe the new B16?

40hp with just i/h/e? I don't know about that on a n/a engine.

i think you'd be lucky to get even 20hp.

Yeah, its not like we're talking the 1.8T in VW/Audi's, this is still an N/A Honda 4cyl.

As for the Euro Accord engine, from what I understand its basically a K24 tuned to 250hp, and I think itll be the base TSX engine. Itll be pretty good marketing if they can say, our 4cyl is as fuel efficient as all other 4cylinders, yet has more power than our competitiors 6 cylinder engines.

It wont have the specific output of the F20C, or the screamin redline, but i bet itll have about 20lbs/ft more torque.

True, true. Given the choices for a new Accord, I'd say the I4, 5MT would be pretty popular. Now that the V6 finally gets a 6MT, I would say you'll be seeing those modded the most, though.
