Looks like a Pontiac version of the Chevy Cobalt. I wonder why they're not bringing it out in the USA. It's at least an improvement over the Sunfire. Pursuit is a stupid-ass name though.

 

i think GM has naming problems in general.. cobalt isn't the greatest name, imo. then there are the other ingenius names like lacrosse, uplander, montana...

In Canada, Pontiac is about equal to Chevrolet sales-wise (where in the US, Pontiac falls behind Chevrolet). This is why Pontiac Canada gets such models as the Pontiac Wave, Firefly, and now the Pursuit.

I think eventually we'll probably see the Pursuit -- it'll be a cheap easy way to replace the Sunfire (which seems to have no planned replacement).

I think this is a Canadian only car because many Canadians tend to be loyal to GM products and they like sedans more than coupes. Also note, they no longer sell the Sunfire sedans here in the U.S. but in Canada they are still available. The Sunfire sedan outsells the Sunfire coupe in Canada, while here its the opposite. The Pursuit is just a way to continue in the Sunfires footsteps.

For now, the Jag X Type wagon, Nissan X-Trial, and the Smart will only be sold in Canada:
