Makes you wonder if tall riding boots would've prevented this.

Perhaps not doing stunts at all would have allowed him to keep both of his feet for the rest of his life. I would consider riding a bike like owning a gun. There is a measure of respect to be had when handling, and if you abuse it, you place yourself in danger.

Yes, i agree. Also, yet another reason to always wear your riding gear, including boots that cover your ankles.

i'm a motocrosser.. and tall boots wouldn't have helped. it prolly woulda been worse. i have broken my ankle nearly the same way in a race, and had my racing boots on. i fully agree though... respect the bike, and you'll avoid a lot of pain. stunting isn't very smart... but i guess to each his own...

It looked as if his foot was nearly amputated. Tall boots would've had to of helped .

they would have still allowed the break (maybe not that compounded), but they would have made it very hard to treat his ankle. mine compounded as well, just not that bad. but, they said the boot made it "pop" back in, causing a lot of nerve damge (i.e. my foot going numb constantly, and sharp pricks of pain). my boot filled with blood, and because of the pain i was in, it took nearly an hour to get the boot off. they ended up having to cut it. really made me wish i would have worn softer/shorter boots.
