Well when people blind me with their brights I get pissed off so I try not to do that.

The bikes that Honda originally intended for the track (CBR's, RC51) are that way for a couple of reasons, weight being one, and being simple the other(1 side for low, 1 side for high).
I know that the weight is almost negible, but if you consider a few ounces here, few ounces there, enough times overall bike weight is less.
