Default 2000 CR-V driveshaft broke- help ASAP plz

My wifes driveshaft is almost broken at the rear ujoint. Anyone know of any remanufacturers to recommend? New is $637 and I've only found one reman for $550, it's even in my town. I haven't called for used yet.

Now for the dumb question: Can I just remove the driveshaft and run it until the new one comes in? Seeing as though it's not snowey, the front SHOULDN'T slip and try to send torque to the rear wheels, but even if it did, it would just act like a normal front wheel drive car, right?

Have you tried the www.hondasuv.com CRV board? If you do a search there are a good number of posts about this topic.
