A friend of mine has a03 odyssey with 36,000 miles he says it only gets 10mpg does anyone know any tricks or a fix to get better gas milage and we need to find out how to get the navigation code. Dealer keeps giving us the run around. Thanks.

look for a code in the fuse box cover or the glove box or you will have to get the navi serial number it on the navi dvd player i think on that model it under the driver seat and call the dealer with that number.as far as the gas mileage i can only help if it has a check engine light if their no codes the engine is running good enof that the computer doesn't detect any problems.

We gave the dealer all the codes we could find under the seats in the glove box in the fuse box and on the stereo they said they dont know what to tell us. I worked for honda from 1989 till 2001 then i had to have major back surgery so i have not been able to work since then so I havebeen out of the game for a while now but I still do have all my tools and scanners and I cant find any reason this is getting bad gas milage but it is only getting 9-10 mpg.

Default Bad Gas mileage

I have an 02 Ody that was getting 10-12 mpg. Horrible. After several trips back to the dealer, they finally figured out what was happening. And the Answer is: bad alternator>>>> Turns out the voltage requlator (i guess built into the alternator was sending a faulty signal to make the engine run rich and the fuel was being dumped right out of the tail pipe. As soon as they replaced the alternator, I starting getting 17-19 + mpg again. I guess there is a tech service bulletin on this so make sure the mechanic reads the honda bulletins.... Good Luck

Here's a link to all the TSB's out there. Mine fell under the alternator/generator -electrical system. It was at least 8 trips back to the dealer then I switched dealerships and talked to the service manager and asked that his best tech look at my van....and he fixed it. Here's the link for the TSB's
