Put 10k in 13 months ownership...it was a wonderful car pulling good mpg for daily driving and giving me utility such as a camper and a moving vehicle

now it's off to KS and i'm buying an old pickmeup truck b/c i need something cheap and reliable to tow at least 5k (race car on a trailer)...likely get a GMC/Chevy 1500 extended cab (will not buy a Ford so that's out of the picture) for around $8k

 

How did you like the element. I'm thinking of getting one to replace my jeep cherokee. Did it get old? or just not enough towing capacity?

 

this is a late response but ill put in my .02 anyway.

i have an 04 element EX awd that i bought in June. we love it, the fun hasnt worn off, its a great vehicle and we havent needed it to do anything it hasnt been able to do yet. (including trips to lowes to buy big stuff) we also drove it to chicago and up to wisconsin rapids and loved it on the interstate.

it wont have the ruggedness of your jeep, the ground clearance will be lacking and it isnt as plush but you wont feel bad about getting in with muddy shoes or any of that shit.

oh, and the seats really are waterproof. whoops. h:

 

I'm the admin and founder of Element Owners Club, so I suppose I'm a bit biased but yes... the Element is a good purchase. In fact, I may end up as yet another two-Element family because my wife and I like ours so much.

Plenty of information there on the Element, wilsel. As was already noted though, it's not your "rugged" off-roader. It's tough and gets the job done, but if you want to do anything that requires a true 4x4, I don't recommend the Element. The reason I like mine, it's easy to clean, huge inside, easy to haul stuff, good mpg for a smaller SUV and it's just fun to drive.

we also kicked around the idea of getting a 2nd element but our plans to start a family within the timespan of ownership kind of restricts us cuz we plan to have more than 2 kids. thats the only complaint i can really think of off hand, limited to seating for 4 but the reason for it is more beneficial IMO...

otherwise, the reasons T Mac listed for loving his element, all reasons we love ours too...
