Salem, OH: The hottest show of the summer arrives in Salem, Ohio on August 1-3, as Slam Jam 8 and Dragfest ’03 invade Quaker City Raceway.
Over 1000 show vehicles will compete in 65 classes during the 3-day event. Hydraulic and neon contests will also be featured.
Three-hundred sport compact racecars are expected to hit the drag strip for street-style racing on Friday night and hard-core drag racing on Saturday!
“The sport compact scene is the fastest growing racing market in the country today,” stated Matt Zapp of Quaker City Raceway. “This is the second year that Quaker City has hosted a drag racing event specifically for 4 and 6 cylinder cars. This event was outrageous last year and will be even better this summer with the addition of Properly Grounded and Slam Jam 8.”
Properly Grounded is a well-respected and recognized car club based in Akron, Ohio. The addition of their multi-day car show will surely set a Quaker City record.
“This marks the eighth year for Slam Jam,” stated Rich Dallas of Properly Grounded. “Our club is looking forward to the move to the drag strip. Now our guests can participate in the car show, drag racing and all of the entertainment that comes with a 3-day tuner event.”
The very hot ‘Miss Quaker City’ bikini contest will highlight the weekend’s action on Saturday evening. Ladies can win a huge amount of cash and prizes by participating.
Spectator admission is only $10 per day. Gates open at 10:00 AM on Friday August 1st for car show enthusiasts. Racing action begins at 9:00 PM and lasts until midnight.
Saturday morning gates open at 10:00 AM for registration. The show kicks into high gear at Noon with time trials and 5:00 PM with racing eliminations.
The final awards and judging will commence on Sunday. Gates open at 8:00 AM and awards will be held at 2:00 PM.
