Default 93 Legend-starts and immediately dies

Just bought a 93 Legend sedan-78,000 miles, well cared for with records. Pre-purchase inspection revealed no faults. Love the car, have driven it 100 miles or so, stopped to fill the gas tank, then drove it a few miles. After stopping and then attempting to drive it again after about 15 minutes, it started then immediately died. This happened multiple times. Then after holding the key in the #2 position until most of the warning lights went out, the car started and ran perfectly. Tried it multiple times and the problem of starting, idling at about 600 rpm then immediately dying recurred. It dies immediately as if the ignition swith is turned off. Temperature outside is about 50 degrees. Anyone seen this problem before?
Thanks!

Turned out to be a faulty ignition switch.

That is a semi-typical problem on the G2 Legends. If it turns off immediately when you let go of the key then it is normally the wire portion of the ignition switch. Glad you figured it out.
