A properly built LSVTEC can make 220+ whp as well, but its going to take some work.

Minimal, huh? What are some of these "other things" that I can do for the same amount of money and get more results?
I'm assuming that you will prob suggest nitrous or turbo ...

If properly built, tuned & isn't beaten to hell, a damn long time.

Just know the motors limits, stay within them & pray really hard

You are stating things here like you would know. I have seen the dyno sheets, and seen the build. As for lasting, if properly built and maintained/driven like any other engine, it will last just as long. The problem most of these little ricers have is they think they can slap on a vtec head to their LS block and rev it out to 8 grand all day long, "cuz dat's where da rev limiter on my new vtec ecu is foo" The stock LS block cannot handle this, and you need to make a few modifications for 8k+.
1. ARP rod bolts, the stock LS bolts like to stretch under high rpm stress.
2. Get a crank girdle from a GSR and have it machined to fit the LS crank, along with using the GSR oil pickup and windage tray. This keeps the crank more rigid under higher rpm, and prevents "crank walk"

Default b18b civic

hey, i have a 98 b18b on my 98 civic hatch and it ran 15.7 sec. All i had was a 4-2-1 header and cat back exhaust. No other mods. Im beating civics with b16s. I think all motor b18b is not as hard to build as some people may think. It just take some knowledge of how to tune it.
