The bleeder valve is practically horizontal. If you have a clear 20oz coke bottle, that should work, but you really need to be able to tell when the air bubbles stop. I bought a small kit from Sears with a clear plastic tube and a cup with lid adapter that the tube can connect to. Push it onto the bleeder valve, and you can instantly tell when those bubbles stop.
