Default Unorthodox Racing Pulleys Question

I am about to purchase a set of Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulleys (the Ultra SS).

It read that it doesnt come with the belts. I was curious as to what belts I am going to have to get and an estimate on how much they are going to be?

I believe I will be changing my a/c belt (just b/c im chaning the others), alternater belt, and powersteering belt.....correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks.

You can reuse belts - but i suggest replacing them if you havent had it done in like 170k miles heh. Belts arent expensive like 40 combined together, timing belt is the one thats most expensive -

I was just told this by another Teg owner when i asked him about changing my pulleys......

"if you change your crank pully it does away with the harmonic balancer which can shatter your oil pump which will blow your motor"........what does that mean......and is it true in regards to changing the crank pulley, which is part of the Ultra SS package?

I have never heard that at all...if it were true I bet more people would know about it.

Anyone running these pulleys in their tegs?

Default Unorthodox Racing Response

I emailed the U-R and here is the response I got....

This is a common question that is easily answered. The "harmonic balancer" is not what is sounds like. First of all its not a harmonic balancer it is a vibration dampener. The damage to the oil pump and motor is a ploy by other manufacturers to discredit our products. We have hundreds of thousands of miles tested with these crank pulleys and have had nothing but horsepower increases. Our quality control is absolutely amazing. I have them on my Corrado ( T3 super 60 FMIC ) and would recommend them to anybody. I shaved a full 1/2 second off my quarter Mile time with just the crank pulley. If all these people are having these problems, how come they do not call me. I encourage people to call me if they have a problem, I would rather they call me so I can make further improvements to our products. The only problems we have had are when people install them wrong. This is the number one reason pulleys fail. If you ever heard of Vinney Ten , he has them on his 7.8sec supra. I am glad you have a mind of your own, and have the intelligence to try to find out the truth. If you ever want to chat or have any questions about anything please give me call . 631-586-xxxx ext 18. Thank you again for the interest in our products.

i say you learn what a harmonic balancer is and make your own judgment. if you ask, i will explain it too you, but im not going to until you ask. (kinda lengthy)
