Default building my ls-vtec, your advice

alright i have my money saved up and im planning to build an ls vtec over the winter. wanna use a b16 head for it. before i run it, im gonna put some new pistons/rods in to lower my compression and strenghten it up cuz im buyin my friends vortech charger (1000 bucks cant say no to that)

anyway im just wondering what complications to look out for, what you did to make it go as smoothly as possible? i dont wanna go the easy way out on this cuz i dont want to have to do it twice.
first, gonna get the head, do any prep work to it that i need to, then have a local shop do my bottom end, maybe let them put the head on it too, depending on how much extra they want for it.
charger comes last.

New valve springs.

Most B16A heads are pretty old, and the valve springs are getting weak. Valve float sucks.

Other than that, if you used forged rods/pistons in the block you should be set.

yeah i was kinda planning on all of that. my integra (94) is obd1, right? i wanna make sure i dont have to change emissions stuff over, tryin to do this right but of course avoid doing more work than necessary.

i searched the other day about ls-vtec and read that the b17a (obd1, right?) head is the same as the b16 (both are p73) so if that's true, does that mean i can start looking for each and take whatever comes first?

They are actually both PR3 heads, while the B18C Type R and B16B Type R heads are P73. P73 heads are PR3 heads with a slight port and polish.

I'm just talking about the basic head casting, not really considering the guts at the moment.
