Speedometer/Odometer Question

Recently my speedometer/odometer stopped working, and i was going to try to fix it, but im not sure if it's cable or not. anyone have any idea on which type of configuration it is. or a shop that fixes those types of problems? thanks.

I know a friend who got fined becauuse he drove his car with a faulty odometer to a body shop to get worked on, the owner called the police...

maybe call the dealer, was the body shop guy a mind reader or did your buddy say "i got an odometer with lower miles"
