Yeah, I don't see why the car'd have to be federalized...just register it as an Integra...after all, the Japanese VINs follow the same structure as the US VIN. In some states, it might have to be run through the salvage inspetion, but that should be the biggest bottleneck. Still, I'd do the research just in case.

Actually, they have a different old style VIN system. For example, take the FC RX-7:
US: JM1FC33##*#######
Jap: FC3S-#######
The 17 digit VIN was fist required in '86, but most companies started using it for US models before then.
My old '80 RX-7 was SA22C-#######, but when the '81 models came out they started marking them JM1FB33##*####### while the Japanese carried on with FB3S-#######
