Default Flowmaster exhaust

I want my car to have a more aggressive sound, but I don't want it too loud. I want it quiet at idle but a little louder than the stock exhaust when I hit the throttle. Should I just get a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust? I don't spend a lot of money on a full cat-back system since the power gains are negligible.

well the rule of thumb is, you get what you pay for. If all you really care about is just getting a noticable exhaust sound then yeah I'm sure a flowmaster would get the job done. I couple of my friends have the bolton stainless steel exhaust from Ractive, their around 200 bucks, they bolt right on, sound pretty good, doubt they give much if any performance gains but that'd probably be the way to go if you want something pretty good for your buck. Just my two cents.

he said he doesn't want it too loud. N1 is not an option there.

How much is that Flowmaster exhaust? You can get the Apex'i WS for around $400. Or I recommend getting a custom 2.25" cat-back done for around $300...with Magnaflow muffler and resonator and mandrel bent piping. Ask around at muffler shops and see if anyone can do it for you.

I've heard a 1st gen with a 50 series flowmaster on it. It sounded real nice with a deep sound to it. I guess it just depends on what kinda a sound you want and how much you think you need to spend. They might not cost allot, but even cheap mufflers last longer than your likely to keep the car.
