Default Vtec burning oil

When I hit 4400+ I get a big cloud of soot and shit behind the car. This is most likely oil burning.

But it only happens when I hit the big cam.

I don't know how else I could be burning this much oil but only in vtec. Its not like there is a magical oil hole that opens up and dumps into my exhaust when I hit 4400, so any ideas on what it could be?

What color is it? Blue?

A common problem with DOHC VTEC engines is the cam seals which can cause oil leakage. While this may not be the particular fix for your problem, you may want to look also at getting a compression check done to determine which, if any or all, of your cylinders have low compression. Then, I'd start saving for new piston rings and a possible rebuild.

compression is 210-210-212-210.

Grey blue, obviously oil.

Cam seals- this is not an external oil leak right? I am def not leaking oil outside of the engine.

Valve stem seals? Oil pressure does go way up in VTEC, which causes it to burn oil.

Dubster- You hit the nail on the head. I find I only burn oil in VTEC as well, though no smoke comes out.
