Yes, but the B17A and the B16A are identical except for the crank, rods, and pistons. Here is what I would do:

Buy a B16A swap.
Install a B17A crank and rods (~$175).
Reuse the B16A pistons, they are higher compression then the B17A pistons.
Install into car.

Once this is installed, it will have the same displacement and higher output then the B17A, it just won't have the "B17A" block stamp.

Hell, I bought a B17A block a while back for $300 shipped.

The b16a and b17a are both rated at 160 hp, although some claim the b17a is stronger. You'd be better off with just the YS1 tranny from the b17a put on the b16a in my opinion.

But anyway, that's not gonna happen cause well it's too expensive for most people.

The reason for that is in the compression ratios.

B17A1- 9.7:1
B16A- 10.2:1

If B16A pistons are used in a B17A1 engine, it would be closer to 165-167hp with 118-119 ft-lbs. The B17A1 was the lowest compression DOHC VTEC engine ever made, and the largest ever made without a crank girdle.

Sure, the B16A revs higher and makes more top-end horsepower, but the price and torque loss is not nearly worth it. I would consider nothing less then a B17A for the DA9 chassis, ideally an LS/VTEC hybrid or a B18C would be used.
:werd: My friend did a B16A2 JDM swap into his 92 integra and my B18A stomped his ass all the time. So the loss in torque showed.

torque = yummy

How about a stroker kit?

Some guy came onto 2gnt.com (eclipse, non-turbo) site, and was talking about his b16a swap, with some kid of "spoon stroker kit."

Is it effective on the b-series?

Stroker kits are effective on any piston engine. More displacement = "more better." Stroker kits are very expensive, too.

Spoon stroker kits are for the b16b, not the b16a. He's fulla crap.

They are out there and effective, but sleeving is cheaper.

more things like what? if I use my intake don't that take care of the obd2 stuff?

The distributor needs to be swapped too.

Default Some more stuff

So here are all the parts needed to be swapped over from the b18a...

-Engine wiring harness
-Distributor
-Fuel injectors
-Driver's side engine mount
-Header downpipe bracket
-Header
-Driveplate, flywheel and clutch combo
-Tranny (duh)
-Power steering pump and bracket
-Crank pulley
-*possibly the alternator - 'specially if it didn't come with one

you need to use your b18a thermostat housing and the b20's thermostat cover. you'll see a plug on the b20's cover that is not on the b18's. you need to lengthen the wire (on the b18 the plug in on the back of the block. on the b20 it's in the thermo cover), you'll only be plugging in one wire to the bacl of the block, the 2prog plug you just let it hang.
