Default PU Motor Mount Inserts

Just finished installing PU motor mount inserts-haven't driven the car yet but they seem to be a very unsatisfactory way to stiffen up the mounting system. The passenger side pair had to be "modified" to fit the mount-very sloppy. I can't recomment them as a solution. Suck it up and buy a full mount set.

Hmm...i've heard they're a good way (read: cheap, but works). However, full mounts would be more effective, but I'm not about to shell out hundreds to Spoon for their motor mounts.

LT6916: What are you talking about? Motor mount inserts are cheap as $70. I believe (not positive the Spoon inserts aren't even polurethane, just stiffer rubber).

What kit did you wind up installing? I've had 2 kits. The porthane kit which replaces the mount by the timing cover and the side on the tranny, and the rear mount. Side and rear mount were inserts and they fit perfectly. The driver side you had to remove the whole rubber and replace it with their polyurethane piece, which fit perfectly.

I've upgraded to the polished HASport mounts and their rear drag mount. Works just as great as the inserts, and an OEM fit.

Energy Suspensions-driver side went in OK-did have to remove the mount but it was bad anyway. Passenger side was more challenging-insert did not fit properly and the instructions were to "carve away" the offending PU. That is sloppy from an otherwise decent vendor. I'm not sold on the zip ties to hold the inserts in place-I guess I'll see how they hold up. Price was good-about $35.

The kit also came with an insert for the rear torqu mount. Haven't gotten to that one yet.

look in the prothane kit. it does the big mounts and not the tiny front stabalizer mounts.

www.jimfab.com they sell replacement mounts to the pieces you just bought inserts for. full replacement of the mounts.
