Gear lube in differential
When I replace my clutch recently some vary thick gease/oil came out of my differential. Is that normal? I thought just mtfluid went in there. Was the last owner of my motor an idiot, or am I missing something? btw no oil came out of the differential when I pulled the axles, just the thick oil when I tipped the transmission on it's side.

Heres what happened...
I bought a rolled over gsr to use the motor in my ls. When I took out the gsr motor no oil came out when the axles were removed. I thought, oh great who knows how long this has been this way. When I replaced the clutch, the transmission was sitting on its side and all of this very thick oil came out. It looked like gear lube from the lower unit of a boat motor. When I bought the gsr it was driviable, but very hard to get into first gear. Now that the swap is in my ls, I put honda mtf in the gsr tranmission and everything works great. Who knows what was actually in my transmission.
