Default ls to vtec conversion

I have a 95 teg ls and i heard you can put a vtec head on an ls and it will work fine. I know theres more to it than that though. Question is, is there anything i have to worry about, or that i should look for when purchasing a used vtec head? what other parts are needed for the vtec conversion. Also, does anyone know how much of a hp gain this will achieve? Is it worth it? Anyone here ever done this before?

its not very reliable. you'll probably have about 170ish hp after. try to get a head from japan cuz most of em have about 30k miles on them. probably cost $1500 - 3ooo. i'd get a turbo

What you should try doing is swap out your LS for a GSR. A lot of people have done this conversion and are happy with it. It's also very reliable.
