Default My integra is overheating

I have an 87 integra It's overheating. I changed the thermostat but that wasn't it. the fan never kicks on no matter how hot the engine gets and i think that's the problem. I just can't figure out how to test the thing in order to find out where the problem is with my fan.

P.S. When I put the thermostat in I just put it in with the spring side facing the engine like you're supposed to. The other day a friend said that I was also supposed to position the jiggle pin so that it was on the top. Does that really matter? I can't see it making that big of a difference but I 'm not sure. Anyhow any advice is appreciated.
