Default Very Hot Shifter and Shift boot

After about an half an hour, my shifter and shift boot, and e-brake become very very hot. To the point where i can feel the heat from about 6 inches away. Does any other people have this problem??

It does this to me when th AC is turned off. Though it does take quite a bit longer than a half an hour.

The 95 I just got has this same problem, except I can only feel heat from the shifter. It gets pretty hot after driving around for a while. I'm gonna check to see if it has the heat shields this weekend. It's hot enough fro me to know better than to touch it again. :werd:

could be heat from your cat. it's right under the shifter.

Check the clearance from the linkage between the gear box and the shifter, pissibly it is so close to the cat back.

Check the Exaust Gas temperature

i did install a short shifter, could there be a problem w/ it? Or regarding the shifter, it's either done right, or completly wrong?

i have that exact same problem...my shift knob and boot gets pretty hot...pretty much the whole area around my shifter...but i installed an exhaust and got a leak between my cat and header because they wouldn't properly fit...so i get exhaust fumes as well and my shifter gets hot...i also don't have a heat shield there cause i took it off....i have to put exhaust sealant crap on there to temporarily stop the leak...no good...
