Default Phantom Grip

I'm swapping a B18C1 into my '95 Civic Sedan and I'm thinking about getting a phantom grip while I've got my tranny out. It's a GSR tranny so I figured I'd ask the Teg community about the product.

Anyone have it and have some feedback for me?

Thanks!

Its two plates, spring loaded to drive both wheels. Technically its still considered limited slip I guess, but the differentials with splines connecting the spider gears tend to have much better repsonse, better reliability, and cost tons more. The pressure plate differentials for the domestic cars weren't ever that great.

Thanks for the reply, but I have done all the research on the item. I know 'how' it works theoretically, I'm wondering if anyone has any 'real world' experience with it on their car?

Hmmm... I'd love to hear about this some more.

I'm just about to order a CM stage 3 clutch, CM 7lb. aluminum flywheel and a phantom grip LSD conversion. (all comes in package deal).

I'm just tired of the lack of grip I get when I launch off the line. If I'm trying to get off the line aggressively and I bring my rpms up just slightly I will squeal without any effort. It sucks.

I just wanted to do these drivetrain mods before anymore engine work, cause if I do any power adders then its going to make this problem even worse. Might as well make the car more efficient in handling its power and transfering it to the ground. Besides I'm not to thrilled to spend 600-700+ then labor to install a kaaz or quaife.

What exactly happened? Are you sure it was the PG that messed up the tranny? Elaborate a little on the situations.

Thanks!

Its not a real lsd. Get a quaife or a kaaz. Depends on your application.

No kidding it's not real LSD, but some of us don't have the money to drop $800 on one. I'm just researching all of the possibilities; better to do that then just buy something and jack up the car...

I've seen the inside of a tranny that had a Phantom Grip installed. Shredded the diff, 1st and 2nd gears and some assorted syncros.

Reason enough for me to recommend not touching one with a ten foot pole.

Well, I'm going to have to agree with you on that one.

Is LSD really all that? Is it worth the price and the install hastle?
