Default My car died! HELP!

Ok heres the low down.

I have a 2001 gsr with like 39000 miles on it, with cai/h/im/e. Last night i noticed my spedometer stoped working, a few minutes later my gauge lights were diming. So i'm like ohh **** there has got to be some thing wrong. So i let my friend drive for the night, we go out for a while like an hour and a half then go back to my car. The first thing i noticed when started my car up was that my idle was at like 1600 and it never went down. so now i'm driving for 20 minutes to my friends house, to drop him off. By the time i drop him off we a both like dude you should get home, we both noticed that my interior clock was dim as hell. So i bust on out of there, i'm driving and every thing is diming real bad now like the headlights and the interior clock i could only see 2 numbers. then out of the blue the car was strugling to keep going. Luckly enough as i was pulling in to a white hen pantry my car just gave out on me. This might help you guys figure out what happened. about 20 minutes later as i'm waiting for my mom to pick me up i went to my car and tried to start her up, yes she started right up. no dimed lights no nothing. But i didnt check the idle i wasnt looking.

I have a few idea on what it is maybe, altinator, plugs, wires, or the battery.

PLEASE HELP!what do u think i should do

sounds like alt is toast, and or possibly battery trouble, not a plug or wire issue,
