1994 Milano Red
One of my friends was telling me that Acura had alot of problems with the 2 part paint proccess for this color..... is this true? If it is... is there anything I can do about it through the factory?
I really had alot of better things to upgrade on my car then the paint... but I am getting tired of driving a pink integra!
thanks

Yep...MR is a pain in the ass to take care of.
If its really bugging you, talk to a professional detailer about seeing what can be done to restore the shine and keep it. Its either that, or a paint job. It really is a PITA to keep vibrant.

Use a quality sealant instead of flimsy carnauba wax.
I have a MR teg, and it was pink when I bought it. After using the klasse twins (AIO and SG) it hasn't been pink since.
An acrylic polymer sealant will protect the paint from harsh ellements like UV light, industrial fallout, etc, all the contribute to the fading and oxidation of MR.
Klasse AIO will remove the oxidation, and SG will protect it from happening again.
If you would like to know more about these products just ask, I could write a book about them.
Good polymer sealants -> Blackfire, Zaino, Platinum, Klasse, Meguiars #20

ok... I'm ready to read your book.... no matter how long it takes... it will be less expensive then a good paint job....

I wrote an article about paint preperation, read it here http://www.team-integra.net/sections...ArticleID=317. It will cover oxidation, swirls, contamination etc
For this post I will focus on klasse.
Klasse is a two part product. Klasse All in One, and Klasse Sealant Glaze.
Klasse all in one is a great product. It acts as a great pretreater for your paint. It is mildly abrasive so it will help with light swirls, and scratches, as well as remove oxidation and fading paint. It also cleans the paint, and leaves a very thin acrylic protection coat. This coat is used to aid in the Sealant Glaze in bonding.
Klasse AIO (all in one), should be applied very thinly with a slightly moistened microfiber applicator, using overlaping sweeps. Apply it in the direction air would travel over your car if you were moving, not in circles. After you have done the whole car, the AIO can be buffed off, no waiting is necissary.
From there you use Klasse Sealant Glaze. Klasse sealant glaze is a high quality acrylic polymer that provides a great glossey shine, as well as durribility and protection. It also fills in some swirls, hence the glaze title.
One of the great aspects of SG (sealant glaze) is its ability to be layered. Each layer provides more shine, and more protection.
Sealant glaze should be applied very very thin. You should barely be able to see it on the surface of your paint. When you first apply it, it should be visible, but quickly go transparent. If you apply to much, it will become difficult to remove it once it cures. Use a dry microfiber applicator to apply it.
Once you have applied it over the whole car, wait 20 - 30 min until it dries. Then buff it off using a microfiber towel. If it is difficult to remove, you can dampen the towel slightly with some distilled water, or breath heavily on your paint before wiping the klasse off.
From there, you must wait 24hours before applying another coat, in the same manor (skip the klasse AIO step, as that will strip the previous coat of SG).
http://www.properautocare.com sells Klasse, as well as Blackfire.
For upkeep, do regular washings with a mild car soap to keep it clean. Meguiars Gold Class, P21S, Pinnacle, are all good choices
You can also use an acrylic based QD to enhance the shine and possibly restore some of the sealant that is worn off durring normal driving/washing/drying.
Sonus, and Meguiars Final Inspection are good choices.
The sealant should last 5-6 months, even through harsh weather. After that, you need to go through the process again.
