Default intake question

Hi folks,

I just got a 1999 LS and looking to do some work on this car. As alot of you would suggest, start with an intake. Turns out after buy is car, I only have the money to buy an intake right now I did some research, currently I am thinking about getting the Typhoon intake by knfilters. It doesn't seem to have the problem of sucking up water and easier to install than the CAI, also knfilters claim it take cool air so I assume it is better than the short ram. I am going to make the purchase pretty soon, please help me out and give me more info on this intake system.

I've never heard of that particular intake, so I don't know how it is. If you want a CAI-type intake and you're worried about hydrolock, there's always the Comptech Icebox. I have had an AEM CAI for a year now, without they bypass valve, and I've never had a problem with water being sucked up. Hydrolock is incredibly rare, and the AEM bypass valve is basically a sucker product to make additional money...

I agree, I currently am using the bypass valve b/c of the rainy season, but I will be removing it sometime soon when I get the chance. Go with the AEM cold air, it's the only way to go. You won't regret it.

i have a injen 2 peice cold air intake for sale, it has 1000 miles on it and it uses a k&n filter too. the cool thing bout this intake is you can make a short ram if it rain or cai if your feeling peppy.

alil informantion bout injen, injen was developed by someone that designed aems intake, so the fit is the same, but they went 3 steps better, by adding 2 pipes so you can change from cold to short, all there pipes are crome and has the carb sticker rite on the intake, and injen always pull more hp than aem, if you dont believe me do a search on injen intakes, alot of people have done dyno runs with both and injen always comes up on top.

i also have a nuespeed n2 headers and sportlines springs if you want any give me a ring.

Thanks for the offer, I read a lot about AEM and Injen, and I know they are good. But I just want to know more about K&N's verson of the intake, since they make the filters other intakes use.

anyone using or know someone that is using the Typhoon Intake? I find it hard to believe no one knows about it.

I remember reading something about it a few months ago. i believe it's the newest product from K&N. I don't remember any of the performance specs of it though. Didn't look bad. Personally, like the AEM CAI.

get the aem...yes its what everyone else has and thats for good reasons...i don't have a bypass valve but i'm pretty sure you gotta drive through the nile river to cause problems...but it doesn't rain much in my area...the extra $40 for the bypass wont hurt

...and the aem looks very pretty in your engine bay
