Default NooB Question

I'm looking at buying a 2001 Integra GSR. I've been looking around on various boards and I see people saying stuff like, "people who think their Civics/Integra whatever, are quick and have just like i/h/e are stupid". Besides gutting things to drop weight what can you do to make a car faster? How much bost would you get from turbo? super?

Turbo would be the route to go to make a lot of power. There are a lot of factors to determine how much power you will make. It will make some very good power and can be reliable if maintained. Do a lot of research on it. honda-tech.com has a very good FI forum, and you can always ask people on here any questions you might have.

GS-R's and Civic Si's are realativly quick considering they are both compact cars and have 1.8 or less liters of displacement. but the people who get i/h/e and think they can play with corvettes are dumb.

"Speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?" <--- that is the complete truth. you can make insane power numbers with a turbo, but it will cost you quite a bit. but if you buy, for instance, a RevHard turbo kit, slightly larger injectors, and hondata, you can have a 260hp car for around $5000, that is just as reliable as they day you bought it.

do feel free to ask any questions you might have.

A turbocharged GSR is a very capable platform. As a GSR owner with I/H/E, let me tell you that I use my car as a daily driver, and have no plans to race anyone who revs or harasses me at a streetlight.

The faster you go, the more parts you break. It is possible to have a reliable turbo set-up, but don't expect to drive it every single day and not expect to get your hands dirty. A big reason why certain folks can afford to drive a turbocharged car on a daily basis is because they're also very capable mechanics, and can fix the car if something goes wrong.
