airmass thundermuff catback?
at a local pep boys, they have a airmass thundermuff catback exhaust hangin up on the rack with a five inch 20 degree cut tip, it looks clean and nice, wondering if anyone on here has this set up, thier askin 345 for it and its a bolt up application, so wut you think, get it or just get a muffler then just get custom piping ran to the Can.
i've never seen one but i know airmass isn't the most reliable part man. in my book. there right there with pacesetter, i've installed some components from both and neither i nor the owners were very satisfied, for a little more you can get a pretty decent settup or a lot less you can buy a universal muff. and weld it on to factory piping or upgrade with a mid pipe as well
I'm running the Airmass Thundermuff catback on mine and runs fan-f**ckin-tastic. I love it. It can tend to be a little loud at time, but it's not an annoying weed-wacker sound, it's closer to a deep purr that has as nice import tune in higher RPM's. Looks like a cannon coming out from underneath the body which I like. One note tho, my system came to me being too long (the one I got was the length for a GSR) even tho they advertised it as being compatible for a LS or GSR. Well, I got it custom shortened and it's all good now. But other then the length of it, fitment is good. When I first got it, the exhaust rattle whenever I backed off the gas and the velocity changed, but when I'd get back into the gas the rattling stopped, now it doesn't to it anymore, never figured out the prob, but it's all better now. I have some pics of the system on my car if u wanna see what it'll look like, e-mail me at AdrenalinRush04@hotmail.com if you're interested. Later.
dont forget to look inside the muffler core, those airmass systems are louvered core, which sucks up flow, and adds unwanted backpressure (UNWANTED, not all backpressure)

I just bought one and it was delivered today. I read a lot of reviews before committing to the purchase. It seems that the good out weighed the bad. I would never buy a pacesetter, but Airmass is a company of Holley and Holley has been one of the top names in automotive upgrades for a long time. I know they primarliy work on v-8's but the "knowledge of automotive" is what they bring to the table and so for $200 bills new on ebay I thought I'd give it a shot. I'll let you all know how it turns out.
A 5" tip seems a little rediculous to me.. but :dunno: it's your car.

So I went ahead and put it on. Took a few hours, I had a stubborn nut that would not back off of the bolt and that took a while to drop my old exhaust. The airmass system went on easy and everything line up nicely, and to tell you what, the one I took off was rusted, cracked, scratched, dented and most of all welded in about 6 different places from all the mods I had done to it. It turned out to sound pretty good too. Deep and not as loud as the one I took off. So for the most part I am happy w/it. It does have a pretty big tip though and it may take some getting used too, but oh well, for the money I cannot complain. I paid 200 bucks and discovered their price range between 150-250 on ebay and over 3 in retail. The price does not tell me that it is cheap grade, it is a company of Holley, I just think it is not one the more sought after brands. In some cases though, the cheap sh#@ (price wise) works.
