Default Comptech icebox

Hey guys,

I was wondering for those who have the comptech icebox, did you have any problems with water splashing from a puddle or anything like that? Last thing, I have a GSR with a skunk2 manifold. If I were to get a comptech icebox, I would need to buy the type R/LS comptech intake and icebox right?

Is the comptech LS/type R intake just a regular short ram intake and could I get away with just buying the icebox and put a no-brand name LS intake with it? Finally last question, how big is the type R or LS comptech intake diameter wise? 3 inches or what?

Thank you all, please give me info if you know.

I have the icebox; I've only heard of one case involving hydrolock (H-T Type-R owner) and Comptech replaced his engine for free. If you're still worried you can just pop the top of the airbox off when it rains.

You can just buy the icebox extension + foam filter and use the stock/OEM intake. The Comptech short-ram is completely optional.

for your application your gonna need the arm for the ITR/LS
the icebox portion would be gsr, cuz im pretty sure the fitment is a little different but not positive
usually "ITR" diameters are 3"

I'm assuming you mean he can use the OEM ITR/LS arm? I'm not too familiar with the Skunk2 IM.

Also, the part # for the ITR/LS versus the GSR icebox are different; not sure if that means you'll have to use the ITR/LS icebox extension to mate to your ITR/LS intake.

The icebox is all the same, but the intake kit is what differs
