Default stock car running rich

what would make a nearly stock car run rich? The mods being; ported and polished head, header, brand new o2 sensor, brand new high flow cat, muffler, intake. I thought that with these mods it would run lean.

just wondering, but what makes you say its running rich? the smell? if it is, it could be the high flow cat you have.

The reason is that my plugs show black carbon on them, it smokes black smoke when i hit vtec, i can smell a kinda weird smell. This was also all before the new cat and o2 sensor. My fuel pressure at idle is at 46 and wot is 50 if that helps

damn whats stock fuel pressure? 46 and 50 seems wayyy too high, i don't know the difference but my stock fuel pressure on my 88 crx si motor is like 30-32 and if i go anything above 40 i'll be running rich.... also what do you mean when "it smokes black smoke when you hit vtec"??? your plugs or from your exhaust or you see black smoke from your engine bay?? need some more info.

no, i see black smoke from my exhaust and it builds up on my rear bumper. why would my fuel pressure be so high, just because of bad fuel regulator or what. I heard that the aftermarket fuel regulators didnt let you lower fuel pressure but only raise it. thanks
