Default ono!! maintence req light

hey.. i was just drivin into town today after putting on my exhaust silencer (because i got tired of the sound) and on my way back to my car i started it up and on my way home i noticed the maintence req light came on...now i read my manual and it said it could be an emissions problem....so im assuming that maybe my exhaust wasn't breathing enough and pushing air back in to my exhaust system after installing my silencer??? so anyway i took it off....and it still hasn't gone off....if it is fixed..how do i get the light off?? or any other clues??
does the exhaust silencer idea souind right to you??

btw i have a 94 integra with 165,000 miles on it...

the maint. req. light only lights when the ECU reads that its time for a scheduled tune-up (determined by mileage)....

you can reset this by turning the ignition to ON (just before crank-over), reach down below the steering column along the panel and feel for a box, there will be a button that you hold until the light turns off.........

So it the light is based on the milage on the odometer? or is it internal in the CPU? Does the CPU keep a record of Milage? I just bought my 99 and I wanted to check the history. Any suggestions except car fax?
