Did they drop it? I would be pissed! If they did that kind of damage, it needs to be magnafluxed for cracks. I was looking at your previous pics posted, it looks like the chips were there already?(the first few pics)

You know, you're right. After looking at the pictures I can see it was already there. I just don't know how it would have got there. I pulled it out and set it off to the side. I don't think it will be much of a problem as long as I can grind them down flush so the head can seat properly.

Yea, as long as it feels smooth to the touch, not jagged, you should be ok. Looking forward to seeing the finished assembly.

Me too. I haven't really been able to drive my car for about a year now and I'm itching to drive a stick again. I'm planning on putting the si head on sometime in October but I'll run the ls until then. I just can't wait to get back to the track.

Well I spent most of the day running around looking for a good exhaust shop and junk yard shopping for an AC line that I need. But I did do a little more work on the block. I am shooting for a Wednesday start up but we'll see how things go. I took some more pictures so you guys can see the progress.

I had already started working and forgot that I was going to take pictures so I installed the oil pump windage tray and rear main seal at this point.

Upper shot of the windage and oil pick up. I spent a good amount of time trying to clean up the windage tray. I got most of the oil off of it but I think it's good enough.

I had to try and repair the damage to the deck surface

My friend had a little fun with the camera so I ended up with about 10 pictures of this

Another top shot of the engine, can't really see the repair.

The best shot I could get of the worst spot on the block. Notice how nice the cross hatch looks in the cylinders.

And the last shot before I put it away for the night

Well it seems that I have misplaced a dowel pin for the head so I can't install the head today. I went down to my local Acura dealer and ordered 2 more. I also ordered 2 new dowel pins for the transmission. So today I plan on putting the bigger exhaust on and replacing the bushings in my shift linkage.

Looking good. My machine shop did me the liberty of loosing those stupid dowels for me. They seem to fit tight until you take them out once, then they just fall out. I was looking at your picture of those dings all smoothed out, nice work. Shouldn't be any issue now, luckily they're only around a crank the oil drain passages and not coolant areas.

So I hit some snags and now I'm putting on the head gasket. I can't recall what direction is up. I have been looking for a while and just can't find it. Can one of you guys help me out?

Nevermind... I found what I was looking for.

I was just about to pull the new gasket out and install it when I realized they didn't look the same. I looked at the stamp on it and it says p30. So now I get to go back and exchange it for the right one. So now I'm looking at Monday or Tuesday to continue.
