Car&Driver a while back mentioned something sortof like that, but it was for a PDA not a laptop. Look back to maybe September in their archived articles. I think it was a long-term test of some car...

Saabs have the same kind of deal... Tech-II with the Saab software goodies is a few thousand$$. The AutoZoned guys can read codes & probably reset lights, but they can't reprogram the alarms or locks or stuff like that. This PDA thing is probably kinda like the $200 OBD readers you can get at autoparts stores.

the maint. req light is programmed from honda into the ecu to come on every 7500 miles to remind u to service the car...

I realize that, my point of contention is the Maint Req Light doesn't stay on at 90k miles though and the "connector" does not need to disconnected. There is no "lifespan" of the MRL. This Psychosis is misinformed.

if the car is OBD II, removing the ECU fuse only turns off the light. the code is still stored in the PROM. the only way to completely get rid of the code in an OBD II car is to go through 40-80 warm up cycles (depending on the monitor) without having another problem.
