For the most part they all do the same thing.

Some people say that AEM gears slip, but will recommend any other brand.

Regardless the only way to make power with them is to tune them on a dyno, and with the stock cams you won't see much of a gain anyway.

I have the requsite I/H/E combo and am installing some type r camshafts so i wanted to throw on some gears with them. Are yu saying it wouldnt be beneficial to me to put the gears on without dyno tuning it?

Well, the whole purpose of the cam gears is for dyno tuning. It will definitely be helpful if you have ITR cams.

The gears themselves don't make any power. They let you adjust the cam timing. Once you get them adjusted properly, they can make you more power.

I understand that, but is there any way to tune the gears without a dyno? is there a standard, or relative, setting with the I/H/E combo? thanks for the responses.

if you dont have access/time/money for a dyno at all, then go the drag strip. play with the gear settings little by little and run the car down the track after each adjustment.

Where can I find camshaft break-in lube? Does the brand of lube differ in performance, as in, is one better than the other?

Just get a big tub of assembly lube, and don't be stingy with it.
