reverse gear ?
This may be a stupid/noob question but bear w/ me.
My driveway is level, but when i back out, I have to dodge cars. So i usually put the clutch in and let it coast for a little while i maneuver and then let the clutch out (not all the way) and give some gas. I think it's called slipping the clutch.
What i've noticed is that you have to give a lot of gas while in reverse. Does anyone ever let out the clutch ALL the way when reversing? It just seems w/ all the gas you're giving, if you let out the clutch all the way, you're going in reverse at a really quick speed.

My driveway is steep and I have to backup uphill while dodging two vans. LOL, I've only been driving stick for a few days, but it seems like the best way is to kinda slip the clutch like you were saying. When I back up, I just don't wanna let the clutch all the way out, but I have sometimes and yes, it is a fast and scary thing. I still have yet to perfect it, I'll let you know when I do

I know exactly what you are saying. The reverse gear can be kind of scary if you are not used to it. The first couple months of backing up my driveway in my teg, I never let teh clutch out all the way cuz it was too fast, but now I got it down and I do let it out. It does seem like reverse is too fast if you let the clutch out all the way, you just have to get used to it.
