Default ICEBOX ( Just installed )

Well yesterday I got my Comptech Intake and ICEBOX installed. First impressions...

> Quicker Revs through the lower RPM's. I always shift 3.8 - 4k but since the install Ive been going as far as 4.5k before realizing. Deep throaty rumble also noticed.

>Mid range, VTEC more noticable. Nice engine sound also.. pull starts picking up around 5.5k

>Top end, Once secondarys open its off to the races. On highway in 4th gear. 5.5k - 8k pulls evenly and to the end without hesitation.

Apperance is nice also. Complements the engine bay. Nice polished intake tube with big emblem ( Comptech ). The ICEBOX itself appears to have a stock look. Filter is decent in size and quality.

Only negative comment. The Top of the ICEBOX seems to fit on kinda cheap. Just a pull over one side snap down on the other. Which leaves it kinda loose. It wont fall off but at the same time its not snug either.

Knowing that Im getting colder air then I would from a short ram.. having benefits of a CAI without the worry of hydrolock. I feel it was more then worth it. Total cost 392.00 for parts then an hour or so of labor.

Damn, $392 for an intake!!? That is rediculous. Is that a good deal for a comptech? I was planning on getting one but for $392 I think not now. Heh, I think I'll get a used AEM type R intake instead of $100. Nice intake though TriDawg.

you don't have to get both parts. If you get jsut the ice box all you need is the filter. Seems to be fine on my car. I didn't spend all the extra for the short ram.

sounds good, dont know why you paid for install though
benefits of comptechs icebox is that it will not be prone to hydrolock like other CAI systems
also pretty good fitment, and stock-like look

I can relate to the top of the icebox feeling cheap. Just wait until you start cleaning the filter...

Talk to me Shingo. What am I in for? IS the filter not all its cracked up to be. Or is it just a pain in the Arse to get it out?
