Help with Bolt Torque Specs
Been away from the forum for a while (a year & a-half). Lovin' the new look. Even had to re-register. Last time I posted I had recently hit the 200,000mile mark on the odom. I'm up over 235,000 now and still runnin' good.
I'm replacing the head gasket and bolts on my '91 LS and I need to know what torque settings to use when tightening the bolts. I would just look this info up, except I don't have a Helm's manual.
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks,
MJB

Head bolts are supposed to be torqued at two different levels...I believe a 20 ft/lb preliminary setting, and then the 61 ft/lb setting. Start at the center, and then move out..
10 5 1 3 8
7 4 2 6 9
It's close to that, I don't have the helms on hand for the exact sequence.

Sutrusu,
Can't say that I've spotted your ride around town. But, hey, I don't do much cruisin' in the Hills. When I do, it's downtown Detroit and on Belle Isle. And even then, I don't go often.
But your ride does look smooth, cuz. It'd be kindda hard to miss, because you don't see many Tegs out there with blacked out tails. I'll try posting some pics of my ride. Maybe you've seen it on occasion. It's a black G2 with blacked out headlamps, 17" Konig Elan's, yellow headliner, emblems and callipers. I'm looking to sell it soon. I had'nt been on top of the maintenance like I should have been, and it'd cost a small fortune to get it back in top shape.
