gsr or type r
Currently im a dsm owner (eagle talon awd). Im going to sell it and in the mood to get a integra. But I cant find the differences between the type r and gsr. I see like a 10 hp difference. What else is different about these two. Which one should I get.

This is a classic argument. There are positives and negatives to both, depending on the purchaser, but most people prefer the Type R because of it's limited production and it's closer to a track car.
I'm not a pro on the Type R but it has 195 hp vs 170 hp in the GS-R, stiffer suspension and a stiffer body, less weight, short ratio transmission, lighter wheels, big ol' spoiler.
On the other hand you obviously pay more for all this and insurance is a lot more. More likely to get stolen. There is also more road noise because of the removal of insulation for weight savings and there is no sunroof.

Type-R has 25 hp more which is obtained from a throttle body, intake manifold, cams, ported head, other assorted motor goodies.
The transmission has closer gearing and a helical gearset LSD.
The suspension is stiffer. The body shell is reinforced and has no sunroof. Sound deadening and other assorted things are removed for weight reduction.
The brakes are larger in front, and the wheel hubs have 5 lugs instead of four.
That's all I can think of for now.

You want to go fast ala turbo? Go with the GSR.
You want a more balanced car that's pretty quick right out of the box? Go with an ITR.

Expect to pay about $ 8,000 to $10,000 more for a type r. In my opinion, not worth the performance difference ( quarter mile times, the type r is around 1 second quicker). You can buy the Gs-R, and with that extra $8,000 dumped into the engine.....

Not worth the 1/4 mi difference maybe, but get them both on a track and see who's faster.
Honda's aren't meant to be compared 1320 to 1320 in the first place, it's just silly.
Three of my friends just bought GSRs (2000 stock, 2000 stock, 1998 w/ short ram), all of which I've driven. I don't regret paying thousands more for my R, it's a much better starting point.
Shingo makes a good point, if you're going for boost, stick with the GSR. You'll hate the short gears & high compression on the R.

all very good points. It really depends on what you want the car to do. If you want to autocross, get the Type-R. If you want to go faster in a straight line, get a GSR and boost it.
