Default Power Steering No Work

Hey everyone. My 90 GS is in excellent condition, inside and out. One big problem however is the power steering. I checked the fluid and it is full. I also know that for Hondas you need Honda PS fluid or it won't work. Is perhaps the only problem that the guy before me put regular PS fluid in...or does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks,
Mike

Replace the pump. It probably went out. Not unusual on an older car. Good luck!

check the belts, or you could have a loose hose, all the fluid leaked and it doesnt work. good luck

hey thanks. hockeyplr, could you type up the steps for checking the belt for me? I'd appreciate it! (I'm pretty sure it should be about the same for a 90 as a 93)...

Hey pomansouth, do you have any idea of how much install was? I found that the p/s pump on this acura parts website was 160 bucks....

not 93, g3 as in generation 3 integra.

What is wrong with the steering, is it:

1. excessively light at high speeds

2. shock or vibration when wheel is turned to full lock

3. wheel will not return smoothly

4. uneven or rough steering

5. steering kicks back during wide turns

6. hard steering

well the power steering just doesnt work at all, ever...which makes it so the wheel doesnt return plus the fact you have to turn it over twice to make a turn

Sounds like your pump is shot. It's a pretty common failure unfortunately.
