ok here is the deal.... My bro's Gf sold me this '88 Teg for next to nothing. I looked up the stats and i know about the 1.6l engine. However I went to change the oil and BAM!!!! the freakin oil filter doesnt fit. The filter on there is like two times as big. So i am wondering if there is a site where i can look up the vin Numbers and see what in in my car. She told me that her engine was rebuilt like 2 yrs ago, but i am thinking that they put a whole nother engine in. P.S. The engine VIN is usually mounted on the front inside the hood, however this number is as old as the car and i was trying to figure where the number on the actual engine.



The mounts are new, The wiring is all kinds of headaches, and i pulled the comp the fix some leak in my seal and now it reset and the blasted thing like to stall when i get over 4500rpm. Please let me know if anyone knows how i might find what type of engine I have.

The motor should be a D16A1. The engine code is usually stamped onto the block near where it meets the bellhousing on the transmission.
