the person im asking for has plans for it to stay all motor. i know that the hondata is a great tool (saw a rsx type-s run a 13.7 on street tires with only a hondata and a test pipe), but didnt know if it was better than a vafc. so i guess if all hes gettiing are flow elements, a vafc will be enough?

the tuning shop around here will put both the vafc and the hondata on the dyno and do the air/fuel ratios.

Well if he's not concerned with money, a fully dyno-tuned Hondata will definitely be more precise. Your original question was a bit non-specific but now with this extra info I would say that if your bud can sling the cash then he should pop for the Hondata.
