Default removing ac belt

My ac compressor broke and i herd that removing the ac belt will make my car a little faster. I want to remove mine but it looks like the drive belt runs the compressor also? i was just wondering if anybody has done this to their teg? and how you remove it?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is a common misconception. The A/C wheel freewheels until the clutch engages, so parasitic drag would be negligable. Removing the belt won't yield any performance gains... only lose your A/C. You would be further ahead to install an electric water pump?
