radar detectors

Depends how much you are willing to spend. The Valentine One is supposedly the best radar detector you can buy, but it will burn a huge hole in ur wallet (like $400 worth).
Personally, I think radar detectors are a waste of money. I just use my eyes and only go fast enough to keep up with the flow of traffic.

You must not have many cops whereever you live.
They hide behind trees, walls, under bridges and night, come up from behind...everything. Your eyes are the best protection, but it wont save you from everything.
V1's are awesome...hands down the best detector even though its way too expensive. It warns you of trouble WAY before you hit it...the first time I drove with one, I couldnt believe the detection. It was awesome!
The Passport 8500 is also a great detector and a bit cheaper as well. It is most often compared to the V1, but honestly, if Im spending that much $$$ Im going all the way with the V1.
For affordable protection, Cobra makes a decent detector...Ive used their 9850 MANY times, and it isnt amazing, but its better than nothing.

I strongly agree with this... I haven't heard anyone disappointed who has invested in this unit (like me) on any board or forum.
Check it out at: Valentine 1

Many people think the Passport 8500 is just as good or better than The Valentine 1. Remember that Mike Valentine is a paid consultant for some of those magazines that publish the radar detector reviews...

I'v heard the V1 and Passport 8500 are wll worth the money. I know a guy who had a Passport and ever since was only pulled over once... for running a stop sign. :wavey:
